The 10th Annual San Benito Greyhounds Boys Basketball Hoops Camp kicked off on Monday, June 17, at the SBHS Varsity Gym.
Eddie Abrego is at the helm of his third season as Head Varsity Coach for the San Benito Greyhounds. With that comes the responsibility of ensuring that the future of San Benito Basketball is intact.
“This is my third year,” he said. “(The camp) has been ongoing since Coach (Roy) Garcia started this years ago. Right now we’re at about 90 kids. It’s dropped a little bit. I don’t know, maybe it’s a Father’s Day thing. But we’ve been getting calls. I anticipate getting about 140 (participants).”
The camp is offered to students as young as kindergarten, something which Abrego feels is important in order to establish a solid basketball foundation.
